  • Nordonia High School, Macedonia, Ohio

Tuition for this course is 100% reimbursed to your agency through the AG’s office Ohio School Safety Grant Program.

The OTOA Active Threat Response - User Course 16-hour course provides officers with the

principles and tactics necessary for an effective response to active threat/active killer events,

both individually and alongside other responding officers.

This unique program, specifically designed for front-line officers, blends evidence-driven

principles with practical tactics, emphasizing critical decision-making, legal use of force, and de-

escalation strategies, all while understanding human reactions under extreme stress.

Participants will gain insights into psychological responses in high-stress scenarios,

complemented by topics on the Constitutional Use of Force and coordination tactics with other

officers.

The course concludes with practical, reality-based scenarios that reinforce the application of

learned skills, particularly understanding stressed human behavior, ensuring readiness for real-

world challenges.
